Holy Power! - Mega-Watt Tank Shootout
Sub-Ohm tanks are nothing new. We have all use them and like many have a few sitting around. The rapid growth of Sub-Ohm tank technology has managed to progress faster over the last year with what seems like a new tank is out almost daily offering something new and exciting. Almost all the tanks offered never are able to match the vapor production and flavor of a Rebuildable atomizer or “Dripper” set up. Yet for the average user, RBA’s were not practical for daily use as most don’t want to deal with building/wicking/wicking/building/wicking or just do not even know about it. Along comes the iJoy’s Maxo V12, SMOK’s TFV12, and HorizonTech’s Arctic V12. A tank that offers enough power to meet any cloud chasers wants and needs. These tanks require more power than the average mod can accommodate. 200 watts would be a minimum I would even look at when pairing with any of these tanks.
Let’s begin with iJoy’s Maxo V12. My first thought when unboxing was its size! It is MASSIVE! A true behemoth of a tank. Coming in at 28mm diameter which is the largest of all three. And quite frankly any tank I have come across. The tank can hold 5.6ml of juice which is needed to feed the 315W coil. iJoy has built a massive airflow system with a chimney that makes a standard RDA look tiny. This tank is all about producing MAXO clouds. The only issue you may run into is finding a mod big enough to fit this tank cleanly.
SMOK’s Cloud Beast King is the next iteration of the wildly successful TFV tank line. Coming in at 25mm in diameter with a generous 6ml juice capacity. SMOK offers 5 coil options ranging from 90w to a massive 350W of power. This means that the average user can get a TFV12 rocking the Q4 coil at a relaxed 90-130w or kick it up to the V12 capable of handling 350w of power. SMOK kept its signature hinge lock top-fill system for quick on the go filling. I am a big fan of the Cloud Beast king for its versatility and SMOK’s rock solid reputation.
HorizonTech’s Arctic V12 was actually the first megawatt tank to hit the market. 25.5 in diameter and 5ml juice capacity. It may be thinner compared to the competitors but it contains something the others don’t: A V24 coil structure which is capable of 300w. The others only contain a V12. So while it may look smaller, it has a few tricks up its sleeve. Equipped with three large sized adjustable airflow holes to provide the massive amount of airflow to power the coil up to 300w.
Overall, the Maxo V12 would take the cake as the biggest, baddest tank on the market. Its size is unmatchable and if I was purchasing a mega-watt tank I would want the most power possible. But The Cloud Beast King offers a versatile system to really hone in your preferred vapor feel. The Arctic V12 may look small but is the only tank with a V24 coil installed, Almost already making it ahead of the pack. Or is the race to 24 on?
