If Your Vape Doesn't Charge, Why is That?
If your vape device is not charging when you need it most, it can be a frustrating experience trying to fix it. Luckily, there are a few common mishaps that can cause this, and eJuice Direct is here to help you troubleshoot your finicky device and get it working again. Follow these simple steps, and hopefully your device will be back to normal in no time!
A charger cord is a very convenient, but unfortunately not always durable piece of equipment that can fall apart over time. If it is not working when plugged in, check the length of the cord for fraying or splicing, as this can happen if it is wrapped up too tightly, or the wires can poke through the plastic if it gets stripped or torn. The plug itself may also be the culprit, as the metal can bend if pressed on or overheated. If any piece of the charger is broken or bent, it will not connect to the device properly and will not be able to carry the electrical current needed for charging. Some devices utilize rechargeable batteries, and a battery charger may be a simpler option to keep your device running; instead of travelling with a charging cable, charging batteries in advance can prevent the problem of a nonfunctioning cable. |
The port in the device can also be a troublesome spot, as dust, lint, or dirt can accumulate inside and block the charger. Just like you would with an old-school video game, blow air into the port to dislodge any debris, or use a cotton swab to gently clean it out. Water damage can also affect the port, so be sure to keep your device away from water; should the port get wet, dry it out immediately with a soft towel, or place it in a bag of uncooked rice to slowly pull out the water. Any foreign object or liquid in the port will prevent the charger from connecting to the electronics inside the device, but luckily this common occurrence has a simple solution. | Unfortunately, internal damage to your vape device can cause charging problems as well. If your device has overheated from being left in the sun, frozen from being in the cold, or received any blunt force, the mechanisms on the inside can move or break and cause a host of issues for you. A mechanical issue is not a common cause of charging troubles, as you would probably experience even more issues with your device if an internal piece was broken, but it is important to regularly check your device for breaks or cracks. Even shaking it gently to listen for loose pieces can help uncover the mystery behind your malfunctioning device. |
In the event that none of these tips work, or if you find something broken inside your vape device, there might be a manufacturing error. While this is uncommon, mistakes do happen. If you think your vape device has an internal error that was not caused by trauma to the device itself, reach out to the seller or the manufacturer of your device. Oftentimes devices can be replaced if they are broken when you take them out of the box, and a warranty may be included with your device for further protection.
